It’s hard for me to believe we’ve been fortunate enough to be the Canadian distributors of KAATSU for three years. I started using KAATSU in April of 2021. A string of fortuitous events led me to start talking with some of the “top brass” at KAATSU Global. Next thing I knew, after many long discussions, my wife and I signed an agreement to distribute to, service, and support Canadian KAATSU users. Little did we know where this journey would lead.
A lot has happened in three years. We’ve both learned a lot about KAATSU and the people who are using it. A major blessing of course has been hearing the stories of KAATSU users across the country. You might think KAATSU users are all elite athletes, but that’s absolutely not the case. Most KAATSU users are non-athletes, looking for ways to improve their health. Many are aged 50+ looking for ways to stave off, halt, or reverse sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). Some are “desk jockeys” (my brethren) looking for ways to get in more physical activity with less effort. The circulatory benefits of KAATSU are a great way to offset some of the physical issues associated with sitting – which is considered “the new smoking” by many.
Even more interesting are the people who are looking for ways to improve their brain health. Exercise is good for the brain, but it has to be fairly intense. Lots of people can’t handle intense exercise, but using KAATSU, they are able to get the benefits of an intense workout while doing much less work. I personally think KAATSU can be a tremendous boon to people who are dealing with early onset alzheimers, dementia, and other neurological conditions where exercise would be helpful. Time will tell.
It’s been three years of us learning the lay of the land. We’ve been from coast to coast (but not yet to the north or to the furthest places east) meeting KAATSU users, doing training sessions, and otherwise educating people about KAATSU wherever we can. We are so grateful to have met so many interesting people, and we hope to meet many more in the coming years.
To Steven, Richard, John, Chris, Anthony, and all the other KAATSU Global team members who have made this all possible, we are so very thankful for your support. To our customers, we thank you the most, as we couldn’t do this without you. We are here for you, and plan to be so for many years to come. And, to those countless researchers, therapists, physicians, students, and others who we have introduced KAATSU to, we hope one day you’ll join us on a journey towards better health and rehabilitation outcomes with KAATSU!
