Modern society isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty darn amazing. Most of us don’t spend our days toiling away at physically demanding jobs. In Canada, the majority of people can live their entire lives without needing a lot of physical strength. That’s pretty amazing, but it also sets us up for problems as we age.
The stronger you are as you age, the more likely it is you will be able to live safely and independently. Being stronger reduces your risk of falls. Your ability to perform basic tasks of daily living will be maintained. We take so many things for granted when we’re younger, but what most people don’t realize is that even something as simple and necessary as going to the washroom and sitting on the toilet get a lot harder when you don’t have the strength to stand back up.
Start Now For a Stronger Future
Remember the truism about the best time to plant a tree? It was 20 years ago. Failing that, starting NOW is the next best time. The same is true for working on your future health and strength. I’m turning 54 this year. In 20 years I’ll be 74. I don’t know what the next 20 years will bring, but I do know I want to be living independently and to be as healthy as possible. If I want to be living well, I need to continue the good things I’ve been doing up until now and work on the things that need help.
With KAATSU, It’s Never Too Late
If you haven’t been investing time and effort into improving your physical strength as you age, you may feel it’s too late, or it’s too hard. I’m going to suggest that it’s not. There’s a lovely story about a Japanese woman, aged 104, who had dementia and was unable to speak or walk. After being transferred to a hospital and beginning to use KAATSU as part of her rehabilitation, she regained the ability to do both. Watch the video below to see her doing squats, lunges, and generally being a sprightly 104-year-old. If KAATSU can help an elderly, bedriden person regain their ability to walk, perhaps it can help keep people from getting into that condition in the first place.
KAATSU can help people become stronger using light weights. KAATSU can help people become fitter using lower intensity exercises. It’s an investment in your health that will pay clear dividends for years to come. If you’ve been thinking about getting started with KAATSU, I humbly suggest that now is the time.
