Now that we’ve entered our second year of distributing KAATSU in Canada, it’s been interesting to look back and see who uses KAATSU the most. Worldwide, the most common users of KAATSU have been women between the ages of 40~60. I can’t say that is the case in Canada based on our experience.
In Canada, the most common KAATSU users seem to be people aged 55 and up. Men and women alike, it seems, although I think it might be skewing 60/40 in favour of the ladies. I find it most interesting, because while we have certainly been selling to professional sports teams, physiotherapists, athletic trainers, bodybuilders etc., the most common buyers of KAATSU are everyday people who want to maintain or get into better shape as they age.
I’ve spoken to many active people in their 80’s who are using KAATSU to maintain muscle mass, as well as using it for overall wellness. Certainly I’ve met lots of people in their 60’s and 70’s who don’t want to get into their 80’s having lost most of their muscle. There are young people purchasing KAATSU as well, but their reasons are quite different.
It seems younger people are either injured and are learning about KAATSU as part of their rehabilitation programs, or are doing their own online research looking for ways to recover faster from injury. If a healthy younger person seeks out KAATSU, it’s usually because they’re an athlete who is looking for a performance or recovery edge. I’m hoping that younger folks will start embracing KAATSU as a pre-conditioning tool that can help them reduce the risk of injury.
There’s a brief overview of the kinds of people who have been beginning KAATSU journeys. I think KAATSU has a great potential to help a great many people live healthier lives. If you know someone who could benefit from KAATSU, I’d appreciate it if you could introduce them to KAATSU and let them consider whether KAATSU might be a good fit for their overall health and wellness journey.
