Traditional strength workouts are usually done several days apart. For example, if you worked on arms on Monday you’d wait until Thursday to do arms again. Why? Because of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Typical workouts require you to lift heavy weights for enough reps to cause microscopic muscle damage. It is the repair of this damage that causes the muscle to grow.
